The Second Coming of the Good News
Natives want to follow God too. But 500 years of encounters with the Christian religion have been devastating. But the Good News is for every culture and people group! This time when the Good News comes, it will be in a way that actually IS good news, bringing healing and restoration to First Nations everywhere.
Our vision is to see the Good News return to First Nations communities through new sacred gatherings and community service. The majority church has tried and tried and now God is raising up culturally prepared leaders to serve native communities with respect and good works, using words if necessary.
Primarily we serve the leaders of the Society for New Gatherings. We have often described our goal as the creation of 1000 new gatherings on reservations, reserves, rancherias, villages, bands and cities. We currently have over 100 leaders representing over 50 gatherings, most directly involved in cultural ministry.
We don't do the big meetings but find ourselves working with ministry couples one-on-one, in person, at gatherings, by phone and email. Some have been in native ministry over 35 years and others, not even a year. While we do travel outside the Northwest occasionally, most of our work is unseen and unsung, but that's the way we like it. Our work is about seeing others equipped and encouraged for the work of the ministry, not to try and steal the work from others!
We will support cross-cultural native ministry workers as our resources allow. If you serve Jesus this way, please let us know how we can serve you.
If you support this vision of creating 1000 new gatherings for native communities, there are ways to partner with us. Today there are people that support us with cash, others who serve in printing, web development, marketing, prayer, making protocol gifts, event planning and coordination and sometimes just encouragement! Most importantly, however, are those who want to start new gatherings -- so keep praying about it!
The majority church does not provide for us financially. Many denominations no longer invest in cross-cultural native evangelism due to so many disappointments in the past. But we are seeing success and restoration in new gatherings everywhere. If your church, organization, business or family wants to help, just let us know. After 500 years, we are still here -- all because of the Grace of God.
